The data relate to the repository of the Berlin Ancient Sundials Project (http://repository.edition-topoi.org/collection/BSDP). The data combine the type of decoration with a corresponding position on the surface of the sundial's corpus, as well as to make the results searchable and computationally accessible. Due to the different shapes of the sundials - or "corpus types" - the classification was simplified ten categories to fit the maximum number of sundials. These are frontUp, frontLow, front, sides, back, base, intersection, limbus, legs; an additional section gives details on specific parts of the body, coloration, or finding context.
