Abstract: This article examines the historical and contemporary implications of women’s rights in ancient India, focusing on the influential legal text known as the Manusmriti. By revisiting the Manusmriti, we uncover insights into the roles, responsibilities, and rights ascribed to women in ancient Indian society. Through a comparative analysis, we explore how these ancient perspectives intersect with contemporary notions of gender equality.
