The Factors Influencing the Adoption of the Mobile App Payments via Personal Care Apps in Telecommunication Sector of Sri Lanka

The adoption of mobile app wallets for payments in Sri Lanka is slower than expected, with 65% of consumers not seeing any benefits in using them according to a study by the Federal Reserve Bank. This research aims to identify the key factors that contribute to this slow adoption. Traditional payment methods are still prevalent in Sri Lanka, but the telecommunication industry, being the largest industry in the service sector, requires a fast and easy medium for payments. Online methods are seen as more profitable due to the additional commission fees involved in conventional payments. Enabling a mobile app for payments may save costs and provide a seamless experience for users.
