Impact of COVID-19 on the Trade in Afghanistan

The novel coronavirus has indeed been confirmed as pandemic and life-threatening by the World Health Organization (WHO). Even though Afghanistan faces a variety of challenges and uncertainties, COVID-19 poses a heavy burden on the country, causing the economy, public revenues, and investment to decline. Due to the obvious lockdown measures, which culminated in the closure of trade outlets within the country and at the frontiers, the government has lost a large amount of money. The vast majority of the population has lost their employment. Thousands of people have died as a result of a poor healthcare system. The population was not given quick access to vaccinations. In Afghanistan, there are no rules in place to handle health emergencies and impose rigorous quarantine. On the other hand, imposing a lockdown severely impairs people to starve. Some people died in Afghanistan owing to a lack of food rather than COVID infection. The normative method is used in this study, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, to determine the legal measures implemented by the Afghan government. This research also aims to identify the number of people that died as a result of the pandemic. The paper’s main goal is to examine COVID-19 detrimental impacts on Afghanistan’s trade. The research reveals a drop in trade as a result of border closures, along with lower imports and exports. The virus outbreaks catastrophe resulted in a decline in Afghanistan& all overall economic growth
