With the detailed measurements available for our Galaxy, the Milky Way is a unique laboratory for the galactic archaeology field which is trying to reconstruct the galactic evolution history from fossil records. The correlation suggested by galactic chemical evolution tells us that the overall metal content should increase with time. In this panorama, there is active research ongoing to choose which abundance ratios are the best to trace star formation history between stellar generations.
