Estimation of Amino Acids in Seed Proteins

Manuscript received 17 July 1980, revised 17 February 1981, accepted 9 June 1981 The seeds of Bupleurum falcatum, Holoptelea integrifolia, Oroxylum indicum and Ventilago calyculata have been found to contain 2.1, 11.5, 7.9 and 3.5% protein respectively. The amino adds in the seed proteins have been estimated quantitatively using Moore and Stein spectrophotometric method. It has been found that H. integrifolia protein is rich in methionine; O. indicum is abundant with leucine and V. calyculata protein contains a high concentration of glycine
