IMPLEMENTASI UU NO. 24/2009 TENTANG BAHASA Antara Realitas dan Harapan

This article particularly talks over the language subject-matter regulated in UU 24/2009. The fact shows that, despite being already long issued, the UU’s issuance tends to have less positive response. This indifferent response is most likely caused by several reasons, including the absence of the sanction provisions, the lack of any other derivatively and operationally consecutive regulation, the people’s indifferent attitudes toward their own language, and a mutually influential intervention from local, national, and global interests. Therefore, for the UU to have positive responses, it is expected to shortly issuing more specific regulation, including the provision of sanction sections, the attempts for increasing the people’s attitudes and mind-sets in order for appreciating their own language, and the terms of the explicit and reasonable distributions of duty between the Central Goverment and Provincial Government. However, all of these would certainly be inadequate without supports from all groups of people, both government and public, especially that of the educated groups in the world of education
