The Greek Revolution radically overthrew the existing Ottoman dominion from 1453 to 1821, with the immediate result of the creation of the new state, independent of the Ottoman Empire, with a homogeneous population, where the Greeks could exercise power and promote their interests. In this paper we will try to analyze the economic factors and how they contributed in the formation of the newly created Greek state, which was economically weak in relation to the northern regions and the eastern shores of the Aegean, but was open to trade.
