Despite the progress that has been made in diagnosis and treatment of early stage breast cancer a substantial proportion of patients still go on to develop incurable distant metastatic cancer. Estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, human epidermal receptor-2 expression in breast cancer are associated with development of distant metastases.
