Carvedilol is an oral antihypertensive agent. Due to its poor water solubility it posses problems of variable bioavailability and bioequivalence. In the present work an attempt was done to develop sublingual tablets of carvedilol using different superdisintegrants like crosscarmellose sodium, crosspovidone and sodium starch glycolate in different ratios. As carvedilol is a poor soluble drug the solubility was enhanced by solid dispersion method. Tablets were prepared by direct compression technique. Prepared tablets were evaluated for thickness, uniformity of weight, hardness, friability, wetting time, in-vitro disintegration time, drug content and in vitro drug release.
