A study on the cause of difficulties in English reading skills experienced by first-year English-majored at HUFI

Reading in learning English as well as any language has the same benefits: Through reading, readers are developed intellectually and knowledge. Specifically, about intellectually: giving rise to ideas and reasoning. About knowledge: help to better understand people, society, and the world. It also helps the reader to improve the target language of writing, sentence structure, and word usage. Besides, the reading material provides readers with a topic to discuss, encourages engaging in communication, and contributes to creating an exciting learning atmosphere. Our collective social knowledge is limited because we have not yet built up a reading culture in the home, school, and society. Meanwhile, to have good English listening, speaking, and writing skills, we need an extensive understanding of cultural, social, economic, and political issues.
