Current Debates on Sustainable Development

This book aims to evaluate current approaches to sustainable development. Considering a historical change in the concept of development, the importance and necessity of adopting a human development and sustainable development approach have more recently emerged. The distribution and level of the production factors as the main source of economic growth differ in developed and developing countries. Economic growth and development processes that emerge from this difference should be considered in the context of sustainability. Moreover, climate change and environmental problems are fundamental challenges for our world. Environmentally-friendly policies, renewable energy, green capitalism, cleaner production, and consumption processes should be addressed within the concept of sustainable development. Thus, we can recommend effective policies for the developing countries for alleviating poverty and inequality
