The Role of the International Law in Shaping the Governance for Sustainable Development Goals

Human needs are grown with the emergence of Post – 2015 Agenda forwarding the new global ‘sustainable development goals.’ To address the challenges in achieving global goals, the mechanisms, ideas and notions presented so far are valuable and significant and somehow provide a course of action. However, a clear mechanism establishing the linkages between the elements and principles of policymaking and effective implementation is still missing. The scope of global goals is universal arising from the long standing of international law instruments and their delivery is domestic. However, the fragmented nature of the instruments of the international law is a challenge, but a review of previous mistakes in governance mechanisms shows that the gaps can be filled by establishing the principled application of the elements of governance with the principles of international law
