This dataset contains results from a Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) that covers the northwestern Atlantic Ocean, including the U.S. East Coast, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico. The model uses a horizontal grid spacing of 7 kilometers (1/15 degree) and has 36 vertical layers. It applies a 4D variational data assimilation algorithm with a strong constraint, assimilating satellite-based sea surface height and sea surface temperature measurements as well as in situ temperature and salinity profiles.
