Kochia scoparia contained triterpenoid glycosides, alkaloids, saponins, and many other compounds. The stem and leaves of the plant contained essential nutrients such as protein and fiber, carbohydrates, carotene, vitamin C, vitamin B1 and vitamin B2, nicotinic acid, and trace elements. The pharmacological studies revealed that Kochia scoparia possessed antibacterial, antiparasitic, anti-cancer, antidiabetic, antioxidant, dermatological, antiallergiic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, obesity preventive effects and inhibition of renin activity.
