The book is the result of the author’s doctoral dissertation, titled Sewer of progress: Industry and State in the pollution of the Santiago river in Jalisco, Mexico (in Spanish), PhD in Social Sciences, with specialization in Social Anthropology, Centre for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS, Guadalajara, Mexico. The dissertation won the 2018 Doctoral Prize in the annual competition of the WATERLAT-GOBACIT Network (http://waterlat.org/waterlat-student-prize/2018-prize/).
