Phytoremediation is the process of the removal of hazardous substances from soil or ground water contaminated with municipal and industrial wastes by plants. In a study, phytoremediation of copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn) and Iron (Fe) was observed. The purpose of the research work was to remove copper, iron and zinc from industrial wastewater (effluent) by aquatic plants. Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) Water hyacinth absorbs 70-80 % Pb from water within half and maximum absorption occurs after 4 hr. The water hyacinth was collected from artificial ponds of wastewater of thermal power station. There are medicinal uses of water hyacinth including preparation of bio diese
