In the article it is considered the questions related to the interpretation and meaning of the term “monumental” and his affiliation with the characteristics and formative qualities of sculpture. To create a coherent theoretical picture are analized scientific achievements of famous Ukrainian and foreign researchers and practicing sculptors.
