Optical technology options for programmable sliceable bandwidth/bitrate variable transceivers (S-BVT) are presented, reviewing our proposals based on adaptive multicarrier modulation. Special attention will be devoted to data plane solutions with high degree of (re)configurability and flexibility for the optical metro network segment.
