Historical synthesis of fish landings from a market in Santarém-PA: trends for re-gional fisheries monitoring in the lower Amazon

Based on the demand of the Z-20 Fishermen's Colony, the present study analyzed the data of fish landing recorded between the years 2012 to 2020 in the Fish Fair market in the municipality of Santarem-PA. The historical productive performance of the fishing landing recorded between 2011 and 2020 totaled 105,092 records of fish and its respective accumulated biomass (tons) in the Fish Fair market in Santarem, PA. They were summed up in 55 types of fish, 7014.22 tons landed, estimating a total revenue of R$ 59,734,811.32 (approximately US$10 million). 18 types of fish were listed, chosen according to their position in the economic performance ranking, accounting for 76.5% of the total landing monitored between 2011 and 2020, summing up a total of 5364.41 tons of fish landed and generating an accumulated revenue of R$ 48,137,803.29. The collaborative experience based on citizen science practices brought a rich learning to the project team. Students, Fishing actors, Researchers, and so many more who contributed directly or indirectly to the realization of the study were able to learn about the experience. Developing research in these molds is not a simple task, without financial resources or resources of trained personnel to produce the work.
