The current study aims at exploring the working of Ghazalian nafs e Lawwama and Freudian superego in Lord of the Flies. This study, in the parameters of psychoanalytical interpretation, explicitly describes the profound impact of nafs e lawwama / superego on the major characters of the novel, as they cross the limitations of morality, get tortured by remorse, and finally struggle to compensate for it. The study finds out that Ghazalian nafse-lawwama and Freudian superego impose constraints on the instant fulfillment of pleasures of id / nafs-e-ammara and reproaches ego / aql for its negligence of the voice of conscience.
