We have detailed a method to containerise the NEMO Ocean General Circulation Model in a Singularity Image Format (SIF) file. It provides a flexible approach for the user to run the application without prior knowledge of compiler software and machine architecture. The code that runs in the container is immutable and therefore maintains strict reproducibility required for scientific study. Another benefit of this approach is that development/testing of an ocean model configuration can be conducted on a local cluster before being transferred and scaled up onto the ARCHER2 system without the need to re-compile the code base.
