This dataset contains the data underlying the statistics reported in the paper 'Crossref as a source of open bibliographic metadata' by Nees Jan van Eck and Ludo Waltman. The data provides insight into the availability of different metadata elements (i.e., references, abstracts, ORCIDs, author affiliations, funding information, and license information) for journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, and preprints in Crossref. The data is based on the Crossref XML Metadata Plus Snapshot from January 2023.
