Women Directorship And Their Positive Vibrations For Better Firm Performance

Abstract The interest in gender diversity on the firm's board of directors raises a number of problems regarding the capacity of women to hold these high positions. The Malaysian Cabinet passed the Gender Diversity Policy in 2011. It specified that corporate entities listed on Bursa Malaysia must have at least 30 percent female board presence by 2016. This analysis predicts that the strategy implemented after 2016 will have some short-term consequences. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to determine whether the presence of women on a company's board affects its performance. This research gives empirical data and a theoretical explanation of whether the presence of women on a company's board has a substantial impact on a company's success. The study validates the notion that public listed firms in Malaysia are becoming used to the policy and recognises the reality that the gender equality policy in Malaysia is making progress. This situation also demonstrates that women have contributed to the improvement of the company's performance over the past three years
