The influence of drugs used in mental disorders on the health of the oral cavity - a systematic review Wpływ leków stosowanych w zaburzeniach psychicznych na stan zdrowia jamy ustnej – praca przeglądowa Bartłomiej Ziomko, Alicja Wójcik, Wojciech Pakaszewski, Klaudia Smulewicz, Bartosz Rusin Adres do korespondencji: bartlomiejziomko6@gmail.com, 690 616 926 Uniwersytet Medyczny w Lublinie, Collegium Medicum UMK Streszczenie Ze wzrostem liczby diagnoz zaburzeń psychicznych łączy się wzrost zapotrzebowania na leki psychotropowe, których częstym działaniem niepożądanym jest kserostomia, definiowana jako uczucie suchości w jamie ustnej i prowadząca m.in. do próchnicy i stanów zapalnych błon śluzowych. Największą zdolnością do wywoływania tych działań niepożądanych cechują się leki przeciwpsychotyczne i trójcykliczne leki przeciwdepresyjne, ale nie są od nich wolne także SSRI, antydepresanty atypowe i anksjolityki takie jak benzodiazepiny. W leczeniu kserostomii ważna jest profilaktyka kandydozy i próchnicy: odpowiednia dieta, prawidłowe zabiegi higienizacyjne oraz regularne kontrole stomatologiczne. Inne metody to farmakoterapia i stosowanie substytutów śliny. Istnieje korelacja pomiędzy zaburzeniami psychicznymi a wyższą liczbą ubytków próchnicowych, niższą jakością higieny jamy ustnej i większą częstością występowania chorób periodontologicznych. Abstract The increase in the number of diagnoses of mental disorders is associated with an increase in the demand for psychotropic drugs, a frequent side effect of which is xerostomia, defined as a feeling of dry mouth and leading into i.a. dental caries and inflammation of the mucous membranes. Antipsychotics and tricyclic antidepressants are most likely to cause these side effects, but SSRIs, atypical antidepressants, and anxiolytics such as benzodiazepines are also not free from them. In the treatment of xerostomia, it is important to prevent candidiasis and dental caries: a proper diet, proper hygiene procedures and regular dental checkups. Other methods include pharmacotherapy and the use of saliva substitutes. There is a correlation between mental disorders and a higher number of cavities, a lower quality of oral hygiene and a higher incidence of periodontal diseases.
