Lead gallium phosphate glasses (PbO-Ga2O3-P2O5) containing different concentrations of tungsten oxide (WO3) ranging from 0 to 5 mol% were prepared. Optical absorption spectra have been carried out. The optical absorption measurements on all the glasses suggest the reduction of W6+ ions in to W5+ ions with higher percentage in glass PGPW1
