Posterior column tibial plateau fractures are best treated via a posterior approach. Various approaches have been described for reaching the posterior aspect of the tibia plateau: posterolateral, direct posterior, and posteromedial. The posteromedial reversed L-shaped approach however, has been proven to be very elegant and straightforward, and offers an excellent exposure of the whole posterior wall. The WAVE proximal posterior tibia plate fits in this approach with its identical reversed L-shaped configuration. The combined approach and implant are referred to as the reversed L-shaped concept.
