A Research of Campus Students' Experience in Terms of Online Distance Education

In this study, we examined 3066 campus students’ satisfaction in terms of Online Distance Education (ODE) experience, in the context of to access, perceived benefit and time management of online classes, personal and other face to face classes, aspects from variables such as student status, age and gender. The study was designed with a cross-sectional survey method. The data collection tool developed in this context was filled by 3012 campus students taking online distance education courses and 54 students enrolled in the distance education non-thesis master's program. As a result of the research; the access satisfaction of campus students who are connected to the Learning Management System (LMS) from home is higher than of those connected from dormitories, schools and mobile; students who are connected from desktop and laptop computers is higher than of those connected via smartphone. Also; while the ratio of those who think that they benefit from distance education is the highest in desktop computer users, the least in smartphone users. Similarly, students using desktops and laptops think that it is easier to study distance education classes than those using tablets and smartphones. The ratio of those who think that it is easier to study ODE courses is the highest among non-thesis graduate students who are distance education students. In addition, graduate students stated that they could spend more time on online courses, other courses and on themselves than other students. In connection with this situation, it is concluded that older students and also male students can spend more time with online courses, other courses and themselves
