The paper attempts to investigate the properties of the magnetic materials used in the construction of rotating electric machines, with a view to arrive at the appropriate choice for the induction motors in particular. Measurement of magnetic properties for rotating electrical machines are more important to both machine designer and operator. This paper discusses the influence of magnetic properties of electrical steel on performance of electrical machine. Here properties like BH curve, core loss, permeability and other vital parameters are measured using 400×400 Epstein tester over wide range flux density and frequency up to 50 Hz and 400 Hz.
