Reactions of Aluminium Alkoxides with Acetyl Chloride

Reactions of primary, secondary, and tertiary alkoxiden of aluminium with acetyl chloride have been investigated and the compounds of the following type have been prepared; Al(OR)2Cl, AlCI2(OR). 0.5CH3- COOR. AlCl3. 1.5CH3COOR (where R in methyl, propyli, \(n\)-, \(sec\)- or \(tert\)..butyl). The compounds have been erys­tallised wherever possible from their respective sleoholn. The reaction of aluminium- butoxide is found, to be very slow. These chloride alkoxides. are not stable towards heat and are decomposed during distillation
