Abstract: Anganwadi is a Government sponsored child care and mother care centre in India. It caters to children in the 0-6 age group. These were started by the government in 1975 as part of the integrated child development services programme to combat child hunger and malnutrition. The Anganwadi system is mainly managed by the Anganwadi worker (AWW) and Anganawadi helper (AWH). The Anganawadi Worker is the community based voluntary frontline worker of the Integrated Child Development Service Scheme programme. Selected from the community, she assumes a pivotal role due to her close and continuous contact with the beneficiaries. Children grow and develop amazingly.
