A quasi–experimental study was undertaken to determine the effect of local cold application prior to venipuncture on pain-related responses among children. The conceptual framework adopted for the study was based on system model. Purposive sampling was used to select 50 children from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, Burdwan. The tool used were interview schedule for background data, physiologic measurement for assessment of physiologic pain response, two standardized pain scale (CHEOPS and Oucher) for assessment of behavioral and subjective pain assessment.
