Phenylpropiolic Acids. Part X.1 Addition of Phenyl Azide and Certain Nucleophjlic Reagents to Acetylenic Esters and Ketones

Faculty of Science, A'in Shams University University College for Women, A'in Shams University, Cairo, Egypt Manuscript received 9 March 1973; accepted 27 June 1973 Phenyl Azide condensed with ethyl arylpropiolates to give a mixture of 5-aryl-4-ethoxycarbonyl­1-pheny1-1,2,3-triazoles (predominant) and 4-aryl-5-ethoxycarbony1-1-phenyl-1,2,3-triazoles. The acid azides derived from the former isomers were converted into the corresponding ureides by reflwdng in benzene. Similarly aroyl phenyl acetylenes gave a mixture of 4-aroyl-1,5-diphenyl­and 5-9.royl-1,4-dipheny1-1,2,5-triazoles. Hydrazine hydrate and phenylhydrazine condensed with aroyl phenyl acebylenes to give 3(5)-aryl-5(3)-phenyl-pyrazoles and 3-aryl-1,5-diphenylpyrazoles, respectively
