The phytochemical analysis and antibacterial activity of aqueous pulp extract of Tamarindus indica were studied. The aqueous pulp extract of this plant was obtained using hot water extraction method. The antibacterial activity of aqueous pulp extract of this plant was carried out against four bacteria; Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella typhi by disc diffusion method. Phytochemical constituents present in the extract were found to include saponins (2.2%), alkaloids (4.32%) and glycosides (1.591%).
