Network Visualizations as a Design Attitude

In the spread of data visualization, networks covered an important role in terms of practice and theory; the prince of networks Bruno Latour brilliantly merged social theory with technology and design by founding the Médialab Science Po. This presentation presents network visualizations from an aesthetic perspective: if great efforts led to new algorithms for more effective computation, the visual appearance of networks is not secondary. After a historical introduction about the different forms that networks acquired over time, innovative ways of displaying them will be showcased, giving you an overall perspective of the aesthetic evolution of network visualizations
