The field observations imply that the long-range transport of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted by biomass burning (BB) in Southeast Asia might impact the atmospheric CO2 in south China, while the transboundary path and the contributions of transported CO2 on atmospheric CO2 concentrations in south China remain poorly understood. In this study, a regional air quality model system (RAQMS) was developed by incorporating the atmospheric process of CO2 to investigate the impacts of BB in Southeast Asia on tropospheric CO2 concentration over south China in spring during 2009-2018.
