Background: Chest X-ray is the standard investigation to distinguish rib fractures in cases of assumed physical misuse in newborns. A few studies in children have found that chest CT can offer more precision than x-rays in making a finding, which could support forensic procedures in cases of maltreatment; however, for everyone, this larger accuracy has not been thoroughly assessed.
