WG1 of the COST Action “Distant Reading for European Literary History” is co-ordinating construction of the ELTeC: a new TEI-conformant set of comparable corpora for each of at least a dozen European languages, each corpus being a balanced selection of 100 novels from the 19th century, together with metadata situating them in their contexts of production and of reception. This presentation describes the current state of the ELTeC, the challenges met, and its future developments
