IMPROVING ORGANIC SHALLOT (ALLIUM CEPA VAR ASCALONICUM L.) PRODUCTION THROUGH COMPOST APPLICATION ON INCEPTISOLS SOIL

Abstract The research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Islam, Karya Wisata Street, Gedung Johor Sub-district, Medan Johor District, Medan City, and North Sumatera Province, Indonesia. The research was done at ± 25 masl and on inceptisols soil. The research took place from March 2021 to May 2021. The research aimed to determine the most effective compost to improve shallot (Allium cepa var ascalonicum L.) production in inceptisols soil. The research used a non-factorial Randomized Block Design and 5 treatments. The treatment used 5 compost types and repetition (25 experimental plots). The treatments were P1 = Pineapple Liquid Organic Fertilizer (4.5 ml/liter of water/polybag); P2 = 20 tons/ha of straw compost (1 kg/polybag); P3 = 10 tons/ha (1.5 kg/polybag) of rice husk charcoal compost; P4 = 10 tons/ha (2 kg/polybag) market waste compost; P5 = 10 tons/ha (2 kg/polybag) of market waste compost enriched with Trichoderma. The research parameter was total bulb planted, total bulb per plot, bulb weight per plant, bulb weight per plot, and bulb size. The research result showed that each compost treatment significantly influenced shallot production. P5 treatment showed the highest production level
