Vaccine and vaccination from past to present

ABSTRACT A vaccine is the introduction of weakened viruses and bacteria into the human body to gain artificial immunity. A vaccination is an effective, safe and low-cost method of protecting human health and preventing infectious diseases. Both individual and social immunity is provided with the vaccine. It is known that the first disease that is tried to be prevented with a vaccine is a smallpox. The vaccination in the modern sense began with Jenner's development of the smallpox vaccine in 1789. From the past to the present, many different methods have been developed to prevent diseases by developing the vaccines and are still being studied. Along with the Expanded Immunization Program introduced by the World Health Organization in 1974, morbidity and mortality have been significantly reduced for many infectious diseases that have the vaccine. In this study, information about the vaccine and the vaccination, which have an important place in the prevention of infectious diseases and public health in the historical process, will be shared
