Allen, 1928, “Teapa, Tabasco, Mexico.” Subgenus Pyzonix; lucifugus species group. Myotis fortidens was originally described as a subspecies of M. lucifugus and later raised to a distinct species based on morphology. Two subspecies recognized. Subspecies and Distribution.
