Scholasticism is characterized as a rational way of philosophizing, and its main method is the interpretation of sacred texts containing absolute truth revealed to man in revelation. The article aims to show that scholasticism is not only a phenomenon of European culture of a certain historical period. It is originally rooted in rationality as its natural element and is always present as a possible way of thinking. Medieval scholasticism and the so-called second scholasticism, in fact, determined the epistemological problems and the nature of the Modern Period's classical rationality and outlined the direction of modern scientific and philosophical discourse
