Higher learning institutions, walk the talk. Assessing the health of the environment!

This paper is about an environmental health assessment of an academic institute. The primary purpose was to show how such an assessment could be done methodologically. Participation was vital in carrying out the assessment; few members of the Institute met to discuss the environmental health problems, their causes, effects, and possible mitigation measures with the help of problem and objective trees. The scorecard technique was used to rank the problems that affect human health, the quality of life of the people, and the causes of ecological problems. Air quality degradation scored higher. The key recommendation from the study is that higher learning institutions should start practicing what they teach regarding environmental health
