Factors Affecting the Difficulties of Science, Technology and Mathematics Students in Learning Mathematics in an Online Environment

Now that the world is experiencing a pandemic crisis due to COVID-19, all aspects are affected, especially in the field of education. Schools, both private and public, are closed to prevent the spread of the virus, and the teaching and learning process will take place online. On the other hand, the closure of schools has become a challenge in continuing the curriculum and the pedagogy and even the learning of the students. However, one of the subjects that students are having trouble with online learning is mathematics. Many students find mathematics to be a difficult subject. Thus, the study tends to find out the factors affecting the difficulties of student in learning mathematics online. A quantitative research technique was used in this study with a total of 100 Science, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) - Senior High School students who were enrolled for the semester of S.Y. 2020-2021. The findings revealed that STEM students have a great deal of difficulty with subject-related and environmental factors when learning mathematics online.
