The new architecture of the Middle East is in a process of forming. It cannot be stable, unless the necessary steps are taken towards resolving the Kurdish question. The stability of the Middle East and the Black Sea region is of strategic importance for Bulgaria and the EU. The Syrian civil war has allowed Turkish politicians and the military to build a buffer zone in northeastern Syria with a depth of 30-40 km.
