This paper aims at a study of Adichie’s novel Half of a Yellow Sun as a fictional narrative that has socio-political facts highlighted especially with reference to the protagonist. Feminist writer and activist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was born in 1977 in an Igbo middle-class family in Enugu, Nigeria. Her mother became the first female registrar at the University of Nigeria while her father was a professor of statistics. The fifth of six children, she experienced a very happy childhood, full of laughter and love, in a very close family. Under the pressure of social and family expectations, Adichie did ‘what she should do’ and began studying medicine at the University of Nigeria.
