This dissertation details the measurement of electrons from semi-leptonic decay of charm and bottom hadrons from Au+Au collisions at √sNN = 200GeV by using the PHENIX detector in the relativistic heavy ion collider (RHIC). The invariant yield of charm and bottom hadrons as a function of pT were calculated. We also can calculate the nuclear modification of electrons from charm and bottom hadron decays separately using constraints on the bottom electron fraction
