During last year's OR2018 conference, a talk (by the author of this proposal) about the Evolution of ORCID in repositories (https://orcid.figshare.com/articles/OR2018_Evolution_of_ORCID_in_Repositories/6450752) acknowledged significant challenges exist in making ORCID useful to the repository community and called for the formation of a task force charged with defining common community needs around ORCID in repositories and publishing a set of recommendations to guide developers in designing and building ORCID features in repository software platforms.
