A Critical Analysis of the Impact of Corruption on the Rule of Law in Somalia

The dissertation reflects the impact of corruption on the rule of law. The dissertation answers the question that "does grand corruption destroy the basis of democratic society in the long run or not?" Studies prove that the rule of law, as the fundamental basis for democracy, human rights, and fundamental freedoms, is the first victim of systemic corruption. When corruption is converted to a shared value in a society, it causes a monopoly of the state to increase, and misuse of power and bureaucratic procedures are intensified. The lack of transparency and accountability enriches the authority of public servants to misuse their power. Grand corruption systemically violates citizens" right to a fair trial and affects their access to remedial alternatives
