The objective of this chapter is to categorize and analyse open science policies in Europe in broad sense (it has been excluded those policies oriented only to promote open access or research data). It has been stablished three categories of policies based on the type of organization who promotes them: European Union (special mention to European Comission), member states, and other European organizations and associations (such as the European University Association, LERU or LIBER). The approach will be based on the selection and analysis of the main documents (state plans, guidelines, recommendations, legislation, statements, etc.) that define these policies
